P.I. Works Listed in Gartner’s "Hype Cycle for Communications Service Provider Operations, 2019"

Gartner has recently published its Hype Cycle Report for Communications Service Provider Operations, 2019 which sheds light on the technology trends in the telecommunications market and P.I. Works is listed in the CSP-AI (Communication Service Provider – Artificial Intelligence) category of the report. The report is published on July 11, 2019 on Gartner’s website. It details capabilities and technologies required by CSPs to enable various business models and enhance efficiencies. In our view, this is a valuable report as it provides an impartial view of the technologies that will have a notable impact on CSPs’ efficiency, service quality and pace of transformation throughout their life time.

The report states, “AI is one of the hottest concepts in the CSP domain, given its potential to transform many aspects of the business. Drivers of its continued growth and adoption are the immense volume of data and the complexities that conventional engineering approaches are unable to handle.”

P.I. Works has recently kick-started number of AI projects with select Tier 1 mobile operators. The goal of these projects is to further enhance the impact of automation on network quality and efficiency. One example is the use of predictive analytics to foresee network events before they happen. This helps operators take targeted network improvement actions and use network resources more efficiently. Another sample use case is the use of intelligent classification algorithms. By using this method network resources are grouped based on their traffic characteristics to better define the relations of network elements and to take network improvement actions based on these relations. Our Smart Network Planning, Energy Saving, Hybrid Load Balancing and Coverage & Capacity Optimization solutions are the first introduced and deployed use cases that utilize such AI methods.
